DETAILS:
1) Please monitor for COVID symptoms:
- If swimmers are not feeling well, they MUST let me know ASAP and DO NOT attend the meet.
- If anyone is experiencing any of the following symptoms, they MUST let me know ASAP and DO NOT attend the meet: Fever, chills, body aches, runny nose/congestion, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, headache, diarrhea/abdominal pain, loss of taste/smell
- If anyone in their household has tested positive or has been exposed, they MUST let me know ASAP and DO NOT attend the meet.
- If anyone has been directly exposed to someone that has tested positive, they MUST let me know ASAP and DO NOT attend the meet.
2) RSVP for meets on the website! I will start to prepare the lineup for our first meet June 3rd on Sunday, May 30th at noon. Please go ahead and mark your availability for the season and update your selection if there are any changes to your schedule. You can always email me at [email protected] if there are change to your swimmer’s availability after the response deadline (Sunday before the meet at noon).
3) The best views are from volunteer positions! Hang with the swimmers and be a part of the action! Your family is required to serve at least 3 volunteer shifts for the season. Our officials and volunteer coordinator will explain the position before the meet and no previous experience is required!
4) Attached are the CDC’s signs of concussion. Our timers will try to help swimmers when they approach the wall on backstroke, but there is always a risk. Please keep this email as reference for signs of a concussion. Please notify me if your swimmer has an injury.
5) Our first meet is at home on Thursday, June 3rd. The website has great info on how the meet runs and how to prepare. There will be volunteers monitoring the kids, and parents will be located at the “Adult” pool during the meet. One parent can watch their swimmer at the turn end of the lane during their swimmer’s event only. Then, parents will return to the lower pool to hang out with other parents until the next event / heat for their swimmer. The bar is closed during meets and no alcohol is allowed on deck (Cobb Summer Swim League rule). The announcer will be loud enough for parents to hear down at the lower pool so you will be able to keep up with the meet. See attached for a map of the location and flow of traffic for the meet.
6) The kids are working hard and looking great at practices! This week we will finish our stroke clinics with fly on Monday, practice starts and turns on Tuesday, time trials on Wednesday, and get a good medley practice in on Thursday. Time trials help me set the meet lineup, so please make every effort to make practice on Wednesday so I have race times for your swimmers! It feels like summer and the pool is warming up!! I am still waiting on a few tshirts, but most of the tshirts are in and available for distribution at practice today!
7) My assistant coaches are AMAZING! If you think your swimmer would benefit from individual lessons, please reach out to one of our wonderful coaches for 1 on 1 instruction! Attached is a flyer with contact info for lessons.
Thanks for reading the long email. Please let me know if you have any questions!
